Magnus Fiskesjö teaches in anthropology and Asian studies at Cornell University. Educated in his native Sweden, and at the University of Chicago, he received a joint PhD in Anthropology and in East Asian Languages and Civilizations there, in 2000. Previously he served at Sweden's embassies in Beijing and Tokyo, and served as director of the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, in Stockholm. His research involves political and cultural anthropology, as well as archaeology, museums, heritage and repatriation issues, mostly in East and Southeast Asia, on topics such as China’s forced confessions theatre, the Uyghur genocide, and Cambodian history.
